Software Quality & Health Assessment for EDSN
The Issue at hand
EDSN's teams used developer tools like SonarQube to manage code quality day to day, but management lacked a single, objective view of the risk carried in its applications — including one maintained by an external supplier.
The Service Provided
We ran its Software Quality & Health Assessment on the externally maintained application:
A system-level assessment of the code, architecture, and third-party components using CAST AIP against more than 1,800 international rules and best practices.
Scoring on Robustness, Efficiency, Security, Changeability, and Transferability, plus an overall Total Quality Index.
A Management Dashboard and an Engineering Dashboard, so both leadership and the supplier's developers could act.
The outcomes achieved
Code quality came back high and risk low: every health factor and the Total Quality Index scored above 3 on Metri's 1-to-4 scale. A handful of high- and medium-severity issues in third-party components could be resolved quickly, and the architecture held up well. The findings gave EDSN management the objective input it needed to decide how to structure ongoing steering of application quality.
Deliverables
Management Dashboard: Portfolio- and application-level trends in health factors, Total Quality Index, critical violations, and technical debt.
Engineering Dashboard: Code-level detail on every critical violation, feeding a concrete Action Plan.
